10 Mobile Broadband Myths

Mobile broadband though being one of the most discussed topics in past 12 months, the technology has not been understood much. Many people today uses broadband on mobile without much knowledge about the technology.


Jessica McArdle, marketing manager, Top 10 Broadband, says: "We wanted to put myths surrounding excessive costs and slow speeds to bed. Mobile broadband download costs are down to an all-time low of £1 per Gb and download speeds are coming in at an average of 2.62Mb – we think it's time to set the record straight on mobile broadband."

The top 10 myths which are there in the broadband users' minds are discussed here:

1) Download allowances are insufficient.
Not so. Although 1GB deals are still around and are indeed limiting for users, these are now far from the norm.

Also, the research shows on an average an user uses just 1.2 MB of his download limit.

2) Mobile broadband is much slower than home broadband.
Vodafone provides average broadband speed of 2.62 MB which compares well with fixed line connection providing 3.5 MB. Users can use Opra Turbo browser to increase the broadband speed.

3) Mobile broadband laptop deals are a rip-off.
While it’s true that buying a laptop and broadband separately usually works out cheaper, compared with other credit/hire purchase deals laptop offers are actually very keenly priced.
